The Lignano peninsula is subdivided into three zones devoted exclusively to relaxation and fun.
Lignano Sabbiadoro is the historic town centre with its long central avenue which has recently been restored and made into a pedestrian only area with its dazzling shop windows displaying the most famous clothing brand names, modern night clubs and bars and characteristic winebars as well as ice cream shops and amusement arcades for little ones. Once the sun goes down, Sabbiadoro's traditional and modern restaurants, American bars and shops open well into the night come alive as does its Terrazza a Mare for a cool drink and lots of live music.
Lignano Pineta is a unique urban centre, a perfect symbiosis between nature and the form dictated by the original spiral shaped town development. It is totally encircled by its verdant pine forest but with all possible comforts. Ernest Hemingway also stayed in the area and contributed to launching the town as a tourist destination by calling it Italy's Florida. Alberto Sordi had a home at Pineta and was one of the central figures in the 1960s social scene in Lignano. The centre of Pineta is set out along the 'Treno' which cuts across its green spiral and is a shopping and fashionable social meeting place favourite.
Lignano Riviera is the most recent part of the Lignano peninsula with a wealth of sophisticated buildings which will make your holiday an unforgettable experience (the spa, the harbour, the golf club and the riding stables, etc.). Riviera is set into large green areas for a shady stroll in beautiful forests and organised bicycle trips for a breath of fresh air for both body and mind.
