Parchi pubblici
Hemingway Park: in 1953 the Lignano Pineta association gave Ernest Hemingway a wonderful piece of land where the writer could build his summer house; Hemingway accepted, but then never came back to Lignano….or rather, he came back by giving his name to a public park opened in 1984. More then 4000 forest trees in 4 hectares of land, with a spontaneous, flourishing undergrowth where small wild orchids can also be found. The park has a well equipped keep-fit trail and a children’s playground with a small amphitheatre.
UNICEF Park: In 1987, on the occasion of the world conference “For an International Agreement on Children’s rights”, promoted in Lignano by UNICEF, a second park, equally as big as the first, was opened and dedicated “to all the children in the world…”, with an open-air swimming pool, skating ring, minigolf and a small square.
Parco Arena Alpe Adria: In 1987 the grand Arena was opened, built on a project by “Studio Nittoli” of Milan. The Arena, which stands in a large garden with labyrinths, resembles the archaeological find of an ancient theatre, among the terraces of which grow spontaneous vegetation.
