Lignano Sabbiadoro can boast a group of “marinas” or tourist harbours rated among the most important on the Adriatic, both for the variety of their construction and their location and facilities.
The Porto Vecchio Darsena (Old Harbour): The first historical marina of the Friuli tourist resort was built as a natural shelter and fisherman’s port and then developed over the years into a modern tourist harbour, with permanent structures and facilities. It remains lively and characteristic, with a motor-ship landing stage, a fishing fleet, the harbour office of the Beach Delegation, the YCL (Lignano Yachting Club) and the local fish market.
On the West side of the Porto Vecchio harbour is the residents small boat marina and characteristic fishermen huts, where it is possible to eat traditional fish dishes, whilst on the East side, at the extremity of the peninsula, there is the imposing and well-organized Terra Mare complex, home to the Marina Punta Faro. This tourist harbour is equipped with all facilities and a Sporting Club, the columns of which are reproductions of those in nearby Aquileia and reflect in the large swimming pool.
At Riviera, on the river Tagliamento, there are two more harbours: Marina Uno, the first in Italy to be built for tourism only, encompassing hotels, restaurants
and residences. Sailing-up the river we find a small treasure, Marina Punta Verde, equipped with all facilities and surrounded by nature, also close to the Parco Zoo.
