A typical Adriatic beach with fine golden sand, the Lignano coast runs for almost eight kilometres, from the river Tagliamento estuary to the “Terra Mare” harbour, which looks over the lagoon and is 80 metres minimum and 150 metres maximum wide. The access to the beach is free. The 60 hectares of sandy shore is equipped with bathing huts, deck chairs, sun beds and umbrellas. There are facilitated routes from the beach kiosks to the seashore to permit access to disabled people and to parents with pushchairs.
In Lignano Sabbiadoro, between the bathing sectors n.6 and n.7 stands the “Beach Village”, a perfect holiday village for the whole family, open all day every day, with a gym, dance classes and free entertainment for children and adults. For sports and exercise lovers, water gym and body conditioning, Latin American and live dance classes are held every day from June to September. For the children there are games on the beach and a mini-club with sports introduction activities, educational projects, baby dance and theme parties.
The Beach Arena, a metal structure, with a capacity of 8.000, hosts international sports events and evening shows.
It doesn’t wave on many beaches, because to gain it is not easy, but Lignano Sabbiadoro has the honour of flying it continuously since 1990. We are talking about the Europe Blue Flag, a much desired recognition awarded by the E.E.C. to the cleanest, safest and environmentally friendly seaside resorts.
